Blueberry Fields of Stillwater began with two goals. One,
to provide fresh blueberries for the people of the Twin Cities and
surrounding areas. Secondly, to offer a beautiful and peaceful setting
for enjoying a day in the country. In 2005, we started to prepare
our field by tilling, incorporating peat moss to enrich the soil, and
adding sulfur to lower the soil pH as needed for blueberries. In 2006,
we planted 650 blueberry bushes in our north field and in 2007 we added
another 750 bushes in the southern field. In 2009, we planted an
additional 500 bushes. Our initial bushes
bore fruit in 2008, when we opened our u-pick farm.
Each year our bushes will be larger and produce more berries as
blueberry bushes reach their mature stage at 7-10 years of age.
The pictures below
show how our fields have evolved over the past 4 years. Come and
watch us grow!
